Marta Dudzik-Rudkowska, PhD

Assistant Professor

Dean’s Plenipotentiary for Didactic Innovation, Faculty of Asian and African Studies

Graduate of English Studies (American Studies) and Hebrew Studies at the University of Warsaw, she earned her PhD in Jewish History from the University of Haifa. As an experienced language instructor and methodologist (English and Hebrew), she is committed to developing and implementing innovative, learner-centered teaching approaches tailored to the needs of Hebrew students. In recognition of her teaching excellence, she was awarded the University of Warsaw Rector’s Award in 2017 and 2019. She teaches Modern Hebrew, translation, and Israeli cinema. She is also a translator of literary works, historical sources, and academic as well as popular science publications, and has previously worked as a book reviewer and editor.

Her present research interest focuses on Polish Hasidism, with special attention to Hasidic pedagogical thought and religious youth organizations in the Second Polish Republic. Her research has been internationally recognized and awarded numerous grants and prizes, including The University of Haifa (tuition fee, 2019-2023), Inter-University Academic Partnership for Russian and Eastern-European Studies (PhD Fellow, 2023-24), Haifa Interdisciplinary Unit for Polish Studies (PhD Grant, 2022-23), Conway Family Foundation (UK): Conway Prize for Jewish Heritage Research (2023), as well as the prize for Jewish thought researchers sponsored by The Sir Isaac Wolfson Chair of Jewish Thought (2021). She was also awarded the Individual Award of the Rector of the University of Warsaw for academic excellence (2025) and for excellence in teaching (2017, 2019).

Dr. Dudzik-Rudkowska is a member of the World Union of Jewish Studies, the European Association of Jewish Studies, and the National Association of the Professors of Hebrew, as well as the Havura research group at the National Library of Israel. She also serves on the Board of the MYKWA Foundation, which strives to preserve the memory of the Jewish residents of the Piaseczno district.
