Department of Hebrew Studies

The Department of Hebrew Studies at the University of Warsaw is dedicated to education and research in Hebrew language, Hebrew literature, and Jewish and Israeli culture.

We offer comprehensive full-time undergraduate and graduate programs, and our faculty members also serve as dissertation supervisors within the University’s Doctoral Schools.

Our faculty engages in research across diverse areas, including biblical studies, linguistics, semiotics, glottodidactics, translation studies, literary analysis, cultural and religious studies, and Jewish philosophy – falling into the broad research fields of Jewish and Israeli Studies. Many of our staff are recipients of prestigious grants, scholarships, and awards, driven by a deep passion for their academic disciplines.

As part of the Faculty of Oriental Studies—the largest academic institution in Poland focused on Asia and Africa—we foster an environment of openness to knowledge and cultural diversity.
