Hebrew in Europe. Teachers for Teachers
Hebrew in Europe. Teachers for Teachers is an informal group of European Hebrew teachers, associated with the Hebrew Studies Department of the University of Warsaw. The idea originated from the online conference Teaching Hebrew in Europe. Challenges and Perspectives (2022, University of Warsaw), during which many participants mentioned isolation from other Hebrew-teaching colleagues as a problematic factor for their didactic practice.
We seek to develop a community of Hebrew teachers in Europe in order to face the challenges of teaching Hebrew as a foreign language together. The online community which we managed to create meets regularly in order to exchange information on new projects, discuss common problems and forward new initiatives. As much as possible, the group also strives for meetings offline. So far, it was possible in Warsaw and Budapest (2023). It was an opportunity to share our experiences and hear from top Hebrew language experts in Israel and Europe.
